This 2016 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack is an awesome example of a modern American muscle car. We love the modern retro muscle car movement and while the Camaro and Mustang were both being delivered locally here in Australia in recent years, we completely missed out on the third part of the American Muscle car trilogy, the Dodge Challenger. You couldn’t walk into a dealership here and get one of these cars, you had to venture across the seas and bring one back from the motherland before having it converted and complied for road use here. For this reason, they aren’t a common sight on Aussie roads and certainly attract some attention. This vehicle sourced through Performax in Gympie, who converted it to right hand drive and complied it for Australian road use.
Externally, the car is presented exactly the way it left the factory in its original retro ‘Plum Crazy’ purple paintwork. The factory cut off style headlights with integrated Halo’s, hood shaker and lower lip spoiler give it an aggressive look up front. The shaker is functional as a cold air intake and gives an awesome outlook from inside the car. The car follows the normal wide hipped muscle car profile with retro, Drag Racing Bumble Bee badging which is a throw back to the 70’s Scat pack Challengers. The factory black wheels are a nice touch and add to the dark and sinister theme.
Inside, the first thing you will notice is that the car has been converted to right hand drive. The factory seats are a nice mix of black leather and Alcantara with Orange Shaker embroidery and contrasting stitching. To keep things light in the cabin there is an option power sunroof up top. The car features the usual modern creature comforts with digital dash display, power windows, air conditioning, power seats, adaptive cruise control, Bluetooth, GPS navigation etc.
Under the bonnet lives the factory 392ci (6.4L) Hemi V8 engine. Performance is rated at 485hp and benefits from the functional shaker cold air induction. The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for when you want to take control. The car comes standard with Brembo brakes, adaptive dampeners, and a limited slip diff. Right out of the box, this spec Challenger is capable of a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a 12.6 sec ¼ mile.
The car has only travelled 13,895 kms from new and comes complete with its original books and documentation. These modern challengers don’t come up for sale very often and this one is as cool as they come being a retro throw back colour, Scat Pack optioned 392 Hemi car, with Shaker and sunroof!
