2012 RHD CHEVY ZR1 CORVETTE

This 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was the absolute flagship, top of the line GM Performance car when it was released. It was truly a blue-collar supercar running a 638hp LS9 6.2L supercharged V8 engine and six speed manual transmission. Upgraded suspension and giant Carbon Ceramic brakes ensured it could stop and steer and the sleek looks with an abundance of carbon fibre ticked off the visual and aero boxes. Performance figures claim a 0-60mph of 3.5 sec and an 11.1 sec quarter mile out of the box.

This particular ZR1 was purchased brand new by the current owner who ticked every single available option on the order sheet including the $10,000 USD 3ZR Premium equipment group and the $4,950 USD Centennial edition package. The car was sourced, imported to Australia and converted to right hand drive by Corvette Clinic. The current owner drove the car a couple of times before parking it up in his shed in a Carcoon. This is where the car remained until we pulled it out and brought it back to the shop for all new fluids ready for this auction. The car has only travelled 495 miles from new!

Externally, the car is finished in Ebony metallic, a colour uniquely reserved for the Centennial edition cars (to celebrate 100 years of Chevrolet). Also included in the centennial edition is satin black trim, special centennial badging throughout and satin black wheels with red stripes. The rest of the car is all ZR1 items with front fenders, side skirts, front lip, peek-a-boo hood, and roof panel all finished in carbon fibre. The wheels are special 19/20” satin black finish lightweight items wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires measuring 285/30/19’s up front and 335/25/20’s in the rear.

Inside the car is certainly a nice place to be with leather and Alcantara covering everything. There is climate control, power windows, power seats, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start and a Bose stereo with Sat Nav. The conversion of the car was performed by Corvette Clinic and was completed to a very high standard with a factory style finish inside the cabin.

Under the bonnet is the 638hp, 6.2L Supercharged LS9 V8. The exact same engine that was put in the fastest Australian production car ever made the legendary HSV GTSR W1. The big difference though is that the engine is in a lightweight, aerodynamic sports car rather than a big hefty sedan resulting in a 0-100 time of 3.5 vs 4.2 secs and a quarter mile time of 11.1 in the Vette, a whole second quicker than the W1. The engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission, just the way a real drivers car should be! In the handling department there is active suspension with magnetic ride control and traction control. The brakes are massive carbon ceramics with huge six piston callipers up front and four piston units in the rear.

This ZR1 comes complete with its original books and paperwork as well as window sticker which shows a new retail price of $130,380 USD. At todays exchange rate that equates to $191,176 AUD before any shipping, GST, LCT or steering conversion meaning you would struggle to get any change out of $300K AUD by the time you’re driving it down the road. Luckily, you don’t have to pay new car money and have the opportunity to buy the closest thing you will ever see to a brand new C6 ZR1 for potentially, a lot less money. Be sure to register and bid if you want to own this special Vette.
