This 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 represents the continuation of a muscle car icon! The original Boss 302 was green lighted by Ford in 1968 and sold to the public for 1969 as an all-round high performance Mustang that was designed to homologate the car for racing. Fast Forward to 2012 and Ford has green lighted this now iconic and highly collectible muscle car to be reborn in the new Boss 302.
There was a total of 4,017 cars produced in 2012 with this option Tri-coat Yellow Blaze being the rarest colour with only 252 produced. This particular example was ordered by an avid collector here in Australia who understood the Boss legacy, owning multiple original cars himself. He always intended for it to be a collector car which explains the extremely limited milage, exceptional overall condition and extent of factory documentation with the car. Not only was it ordered in the rarest colour, it was also optioned with the track key, 3.73 ratio LSD rear end, high gloss tape stripe and Recaro sports seats. It was also ordered from the dealer with optional wheels which are fitted to the car with the factory spec wheels new in box and supplied with sale.
The most interesting and most expensive option is the Track Key. This is a separate key that could be ordered with the Boss that when used, completely changed the tune of the car to a highly track focused machine. Ford say that using the track key tells the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to alter more than 600 different parameters to provide a race bred driving experience. Some of these include variable cam timing, spark maps, engine braking, fuel control, throttle response and many more. It even gives the car a unique more aggressive idle, it doesn’t get much cooler than that.
The car runs a 5.0L DOHC V8 engine that produced 444hp paired to a 6 speed manual transmission. The car has the normal creature comforts you would expect of that era with air conditioning, power windows, power steering, cruise control, central locking etc. Being a performance oriented model it also received Brembo brakes and upgraded suspension from the factory.
The car was imported into Australia in March of 2012 and professionally converted to RHD by Performax in QLD. Since then, the car has only travelled 1,596 miles from new and presents as such. These cars were never sold new here in Australia and only in a very limited run in the US. Certainly a modern collector muscle car, and you wont find a better example anywhere, this car is being offered at NO RESERVE!
