This 2009 Dodge Viper SRT 10 is far from your run of the mill Dodge Viper. It is one of the 10th Anniversary Viper Owner Invitational Edition cars that were only offered to existing Viper owners. They were a numbered car limited to just 100 examples although due to various manufacturing issues, it is said that Chrysler only ever produced 79 cars with this example being build number 51. Each of the VOI cars would be finished in a unique Bright Silver colour with Dual Fang-Style Black Stripes, and would include black Sidewinder Wheels from the ACR as well as commemorative badging and a serialized plaque.
Being a 2009 year model, this is a fourth generation car and one of only a handful that would be in the country. Being so modern, it had to be brought in as a personal import by an American gent who owned the car over there before moving to Australia. He made the decision to professionally convert the car to right hand drive which came at a great expense. The car has been mod plated and has previously been on full QLD registration. It could well be the only hard top fourth generation Viper to be fully road registered in the country.
Externally the body of the car presents very well as you would expect for a car that has travelled less than 12,000 miles. The gets a sinister look thanks to a set of ACR carbon fibre lower front lips and side skirts. The factory side pipes are a cool look and provide a nice rumble. The exterior look is completed with the factory black ACR style wheels measuring 18” up front and 19” in the rear.
Inside the fourth Gen cars are much better finished than the earlier generations. The first thing you will notice is that the car has been converted to right hand drive. The factory leather bucket seats are sporty with big bolsters to hold you in place. There are some creature comforts with power windows and air conditioning however the owner has pointed out that the car currently needs a relay for the blower fan replaced to be fully functional again.
Under the huge bonnet is the factory 8.4L V10 engine that makes 600hp and 560lb ft of torque. The engine is paired to a six speed manual transmission like every real sports car should be! The car has high performance suspension and big disc brakes all round with two-piece front rotors. Although it’s a modern car, it provides a true analogue driving experience where you still feel connected to the car and the road without all of the high-tech driver aids.
This is a super rare example of a limited numbered, low production edition of one of the most iconic American sports cars of all time. The car blurs the line between muscle car and super car in all the right ways.
