This 1984 Toyota HJ47 Land Cruiser ute is an awesome example of a nicely restored classic 4×4. The car was purchased by the current owner as a low km, rust free country vehicle that was stripped down and professionally refinished.
The body of the truck itself was in very good shape for its age. It was stripped back and repainted in its original colour code 033 white. In the back, a new style side tub was sourced from All Muscle Car Parts and painted to match. A new headboard and tailgate chains were acquired from Rob Sawyer. Ā Up front, there is a new genuine front bumper and number plate mount. At the top of the windscreen there is a new Hy-way sun visor and all of the badges were replaced. The truck sits on four new 16×5.5 BCI wheels and hubcaps with five new 255/85R16 Dunlop Road Gripper tyres including one on the split rim spare.
Inside has also been given a freshen up back to factory specs. Firstly, the floors received new vinyl floors and floor mats from No Bull. The seats, door cards and roof lining were refinished by North Coast Custom Trim. The gauge cluster and tacho were tested and restored by Lionel Otto Instruments. The dash pad, sun visors, rear view mirror, fuse box cover, quarter glass rubbers, seat belts and door felts were all replaced.
While everything outside and in the cabin has been restored back to look new, the engine bay retains its original appearance and is what you would expect of a low km well maintained truck. The factory 2H 4.0L Diesel engine has been fully serviced with all new oil and filters. The engine is paired to the factory four speed manual transmission. There is a new exhaust system by KM exhausts and the wiper and radiator overflow bottles have been replaced. Underneath the steering system received new tie rod ends and idler arm. The wheel bearings were replaced as were the rear brakes with new handbrake cable and rebuilt handbrake.
The truck has only travelled 145,000 kms from brand new and with its recent restoration, would have to be one of the nicest HJ47 Land Cruiser utes in the market. Good examples of these trucks can be extremely desirable and this would suit a collector.
