This 1985 Holden VK Commodore has been through an extensive rebuild and extensively upgraded into a tough Blue Meanie themed street machine. The car was taken back to bar metal and fully repainted in 2021. Naturally being a Blue Meanie replica, the car features the normal group A front bumper, grille, rear spoiler, HDT style headlight protectors and SS Group A decals. The car also has a bonnet cowl with air cleaners sticking up out of it and is mini tubbed in the rear to sit some fat rubber and keep it nice and low. The car sits down low over a set of custom two-piece 20” Simmons wheels with white centres.

Inside, the Blue Meanie theme continues with group 3 Lumbar support Scheel interior. The dash ditches the original style gauges in favour of a Haltech dash mounted in the original cluster. There is a pair of aftermarket gauges mounted in the ash tray and a small aftermarket stereo system. In the rear windows is a set of white venetian blinds. The boot now contains an aftermarket fuel cell and the battery which was relocated from the engine bay.

Pop the bonnet and things start getting serious. Front and centre is a new crate LS1 5.7L V8 engine that has been upgraded with a mild cam, some head work, Proflow high rise manifold and twin throttle bodies. The coil packs have been relocated to the cowl with new coil covers. A Haltech elite 2000 engine management system is responsible for keeping everything in check. The engine bay is all shaved and smoothed with the engine and accessories all dressed in black. Exhaust gasses are expelled through a full custom twin system that dumps at the diff with a dummy single pipe mounted out the rear. The car is set up to run on normal premium pump fuel.

The engine is paired to a Tremec T56, six speed manual transmission which again was new during the build. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a VL turbo diff with Truetrac centre and 31 spline axles. The steering has been upgraded to power assisted using an Astra remote power steering pump mounted in the inner guard. The brakes have received a massive upgrade over factory with late model HSV discs all round featuring 6 piston calipers up front and four pistons in the rear with drilled and slotted rotors. Likewise, the suspension has been upgraded to fully adjustable BC coil overs in the front with a four-link conversion and adjustable coil overs in the rear.

All of these upgrades make for a super cool looking street machine that goes, stops and steers better than anything ever did from that era. These Commodores are getting more and more popular these days and this one stands out from the crowd in the best way possible.
