This 1982 Holden VH Commodore has been rebuilt into a HDT SS Group 3 replica. The HDT Brock Commodores have become extremely sought after by collectors over the last decades with prices quickly climbing. Replicas like this allow people to have the same look and feel of the originals without the same collector driven price tags.

This Commodore began its life as an upmarket SL/E which is the same top of the line model the group three cars were based on. The body of the car was stripped back to bare metal and fully repainted in white in 2021. The car received the Group 3 bodykit which included front air dam, reverse bonnet scoop, wind splits on the front guards, side skirts, rear apron and rear spoiler. The SS Group 3 decals were applied and the car sits on a set of 20” Momo Star wheels which have been painted white to match.

Inside the car retains its full genuine SL/E interior in two-tone tan which is in good condition. The steering wheel has been swapped out for a HDT style wheel and there is a B&M ratchet shifter neatly integrated into the centre console with functional light up shift indicator. To keep things comfortable in the cabin there is air conditioning fitted.

Under the bonnet is a tough built 5.0L V8 engine. The engine built features a 308 crank, A9I conrods, flat top Hypertec pistons, reconditioned heads, Crane 276 Hydraulic cam, Yella Terra roller rockers, Graphed distributer, C.O.M.E Racing single plane manifold, Perform 650cfm double pumper carburettor and has been zero decked, blueprinted and balanced. There is a cold air tray feeding air to it up top. The engine is paired with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission that has been rebuilt with heavy duty clutches, stage 2 shift kit and 3000 rpm stall. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a VL Turbo diff which has been rebuilt with 3.55 ratio LSD centre and 28 spline axles. The brakes have been upgraded with new slotted rotors and twin piston fronts. The suspension received new bushes all round with Monroe shocks and Pedders springs. The fuel system includes an alloy drop tank, Aeromotive Phantom electric fuel pump, Aeroflow fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump safety cut off.

This is a great example of a VH SS Group 3 Replica Commodore that is loaded full of fruit to outperform an original car. All of the fun and more at a fraction of the price of an original.
