This 1981 Toyota Landcruiser ute has been through a seven year chassis up restoration into the truck you see here today. These early Cruisers are extremely popular with enthusiasts and collectors and this is a museum quality example. The truck was purchased by the current owner in 2011 from a friend in Queensland. At the time the vehicle was in original running condition with an original well body still fitted. From 2011 to 2018 the vehicle was carefully dismantled and meticulously restored. It was reregistered in 2022 and has been kept garaged and admired since.
The body of the truck was removed from the chassis and stripped back to bare metal. Any necessary repairs were made which the owner tells us was only minor. The car was then professionally repainted in its original colour of Beige with white roof in 2pac paint. The inside of the tub has been lined with a black spray in liner. The rear window retains the original Leo Muller Toyota dealer stickers. The truck sits on a set of refurbished original 16” split rims with new Dunlop Road Gripper tyres all round.
Inside the truck has been fully restored back to factory in its original grey colour. These trucks weren’t know for creature comforts, instead its all business. There is a new genuine Toyota rubber floor mat on the floor and the split bench seat has been retrimmed. New genuine Toyota door cards have been fitted to the doors. The manual shifter and 4×4 selector stick up from the floor. More modern seat belts have been added for safety but everything else remains true to factory.
Under the bonnet lives the original Toyota 2H 4.0L six cylinder diesel engine. The engine is paired to the factory four speed manual transmission and power is fed to the wheels through the factory four wheel drive system. The factory drum brakes remain in place as does the factory steering but refurbished with all new components and hubs. The suspension has been lifted 2” thanks to an Old Man Emu lift kit. Where ever possible genuine parts were used and everything has been blasted and coated with new bolts used throughout.
This 1981 Toyota HJ Landcruiser is an absolute time warp and would be suitable for a collector or museum piece.
