This Aussie delivered, right hand drive, 1985 Ford Bronco XLT is a top of the line truck that has been through a restoration with some awesome upgrades. This is one of only 723 Bronco’s sold new in Australia for 1985. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2020 as a very clean and original old truck that could do with a little freshen up. The truck was sent off to Troy at WSR to be given a full makeover into the beast you see here today.
Starting with the body, it was stripped back to bare metal where it was found to be extremely solid. A new bonnet and tail gate were used with the truck being fully repainted in 2 pac Jack Daniels gloss black. A full set of custom graphics were made up to emulate the factory optional freewheeling decal pack available on US cars. While apart the body was rust treated and cavity waxed for future protection. The car was then reassembled with new chrome bumpers, new grille, new door handles, new windscreen, new mirrors, new tail lights and new rubbers used throughout. All of the original stainless trim moulds were removed and polished before being refitted. One of the coolest features of these trucks is the removable hard top roof that can be unbolted for a wind in the hair experience when required. The truck sits up proud, lifted 2” over stock and sitting on 15” chrome American Racing wheels wrapped in 33” BF Goodrich All Terrain Tyres.
Inside the car has been completely retrimmed back to factory look in Tan cloth. The floor has been fully covered in Dynamat for sound deadening and insulation before receiving all new carpets. The seats front and rear were fully retrimmed to a factory style. The hard plastic trims were all removed and colour matched to suit. Creature comforts include an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. For tunes while cruising, the truck has been fitted with a six speaker stereo system run by a 9” floating touch screen Pioneer Bluetooth infotainment system with Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Alexa built in.
Under the bonnet of the truck lives a 351ci Cleveland V8 engine that has been upgraded with a FiTech Fuel injection setup. The engine is paired to the factory C6 Automatic transmission and power is fed to the road through a transfer case and four wheel drive system. The brakes are rebuilt factory items and the suspension has received a 2” lift along with air bag assistance in the rear. A towbar is fitted to the rear of the truck incase you have a trailer you need to move.
These Bronco’s have become quite collectible over the last few years and good examples like this are few and far between. This is a top of the line, Aussie delivered truck and has been completely transformed into one of the best looking Bronco’s in the country.
