This 1976 Holden Torana LX hatch has been neatly rebuilt into an A9X tribute. The car started life as a 253ci V8 powered four speed, SL hatchback. The car has been through an extensive rebuild with a host of upgrades along the way.
The previous owner had the car for approximately 12 years and during that time, he redid the body and paintwork on the car. The car is now fitted with a A9X style bodykit including front bumper, hood bulge, wide body flares and real spoiler. The car was then fully repainted in Absinth Yellow and fitted with A9X style black outs. To fill the newly acquired fat fenders a set of two-piece 15” hotwires were custom made for the car by Neil’s wheels.
Inside the car is neatly restored to a factory look in slate black with herringbone insert. The dash and console are all well finished and while it appears like the original stereo system is still fitted, this is actually a Bluetooth compatible Retrosounds system. Between the front bucket seats there is a manual shifter poking up through the console and three pedals on the floor. Retractable front lap sash belts are fitted for safety.
Under the bonnet now lives a built 308ci V8 engine that has been upgraded with casting number 2812173 L34 big valve heads as well as upgraded guide plates and roller rockers. The engine is paired to a T5 five speed manual transmission which is linked to a CNC lightened flywheel and Exedy heavy duty clutch. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a FG Ford 30 spline rear end with full floater axles. The brakes have been upgraded to HZ discs up front with VZ Discs on the rear. Under the back there is a polished alloy drop tank to supply fuel.
These LX Torana hatch backs are always popular car when we get them in the showroom and this is a neat example with a bunch of upgrades. The look of these cars when you fill up those big flares with some meaty wheels and tyres is a hard thing to beat.
