1976 Holden HX LE Coupe for sale
The final model of the original Monaro series was the limited edition HX LE coupe introduced in August 1976. While it did not carry the Monaro nameplate, it’s considered the last true Monaro of the X Generation of Holdens. This is number 243 of the 580 and sold by Southern Motors in Box Hill on the 14-02-1977
With only 580 LE coupes produced, they were all assembled at Holden’s Pagewood plant in Sydney as they specialised in the low volume luxury Statesman and Caprice models and this last run of coupes were custom-built with all the high end luxury options of the time, all finished in Crimson Red with gold pinstriping and large ‘LE’ script lettering. Other standard options are as follows… Twin headlight front, colour-keyed front and rear spoilers and unique gold-finished 14×7-inch polycast wheels completed the distinctive visual package, 308-cid V8, the Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and Salisbury limited slip differential, inside was a combination of GTS features with a walnut finish dash fascia and centre console, with crushed velour and cloth trim and also featured power windows, power steering, power aerial, integrated air conditioning, heated rear window, quadraphonic eight-track cartridge player and tinted windows. This particular car has had a respray some time ago, the engine was replaced in 1994 with a replacement RPM engine and has its paperwork in the glovebox. The car had done 324,101k’s at the time. It has since had it’s dash gauges replaced and reads 173,028 and closer reflects the approx miles since the engine change… Note the true kilometres of the car from new would more like 473,000 k’s and the replacement odometer has been noted.
