This Genuine 1975 Ford XB GT Sedan is a fantastic example that has been fully restored with a great history. The car was sold new on the 2nd of December 1975 to Mr Robert Allen at Brian Pollock Ford in Phillip, A.C.T. The car was originally a special order for the manager of the dealership at the time who, at first, was reluctant to sell it. The XB was nearing the end of it 3 year run and Mr Allen was determined to take home the Tanga Orange car. The car was optioned with parchment trim, power steering and protection pack. It has also been fitted with air conditioning by the dealer. After owning the car for a number of years, Mr Allen sold the car on and it wouldn’t be until a chance meeting nearly 30 years later, that Robert’s son Richard, discovered the car sitting in a barn as a bare shell and boxes for of parts, where it had been hiding since 1982. After confirming the car was in fact his father’s, Richard decided to undertake a full restoration on the car in order to gift it back to his father for his 76th birthday.

The car underwent a full restoration in 2004, luckily the body was in extremely good shape having lived most of its life indoors. The resto took 18 months in total and it was decided that as many of the original parts that came with the car would be used as possible. Since the car was already a bare shell, any bodywork that was required was performed before being repainted in its original Tango Orange colour using Acrylic. The black accents were repainted on the body and Richard did a heap of research to ensure that every clip and bolt was put back in its correct original location. The original 12 slotter wheels were stripped of their paint and recoated in the correct Argent silver.

The car runs its original 351ci V8 engine that’s still stamped with its matching vin to the car. The engine is paired to an automatic transmission and the car was refitted with its power steering and protection pack. The suspension received all new rubbers and redid the front end, rear shackles and sway bars to ensure the GT handled as good as it did when it left the factory. All of the nuts and bolts in the engine bay were cleaned and treated to restore them to like new.

Likewise, the interior was all refurbished using as many original parts as possible and recovered in its original Parchment colour. The headlining was all redone and everything rewired. One change that was made to the car after the restoration was that the original chrome bumpers were replaced with colour coded bumpers front and rear. The original chrome bumpers and overriders are included with the sale of the car.

This is an awesome example of a genuine, matching number XB GT sedan that has been fully restored. The history of the car is pretty cool and the car comes with its original books, restoration photos and a authentication letter from Ford. The car would make a fantastic investment grade Aussie muscle car that you can still get out and enjoy.
