1975 Holden Torana LX SS Hatch

HIGHLIGHTS: – Genuine LX SS Hatchback – Fully restored in original Papaya colour – A9X style flares and body kit – Stroked 350ci V8 engine – Turbo 400 automatic transmission – Nine inch diff – 14” Speedy Hotwire wheels with white lettered tyres

This 1975 Holden Torana Hatchback is a genuine SS hatch that has been restored and fitted with some pretty serious performance upgrades. These Torana hatches are always extremely popular, especially when they have a nice bit of performance under the hood, presented in a good colour combo and are flares with big feet. According to the tags, this is a Melbourne build SS hatch completed in December of 1975 and finished in Papaya paint work with Sienna cloth trim with Chevron inserts. The car was originally powered by an L32 4.3L V8 engine with M20 manual transmission. The current owner has restored and transformed the hatch over a number of years into a tough street car.

Starting with the body, it was stripped down before being professionally repainted in its original colour of Papaya. The car was fitted with the A9X style bodykit including front and rear spoilers, bonnet bulge and flared guards. The appropriate black outs were added in gloss black. You can’t miss the large hand polished aluminium drop tank under the rear of the car. Completing the period look is a set of 14” Speedy hotwire wheels wrapped in white lettered tyres.

Inside the car has also been fully redone to factory specs but in black and slate. The carpets were replaced with all new black carpets from Knox in 2020. The seats front and rear received new trim as did the door trims. The factory SS dash and steering wheel are in place. The only real indication that you’re not sitting in a stock car is the B&M quick shifter on the floor between the front seats and a panel below the dash that holds switches for the fuel pump and thermo fans and a single Autometer gauge.

Lift the bonnet and you will find a neatly presented engine bay housing a built 350ci Chevy V8 stroker. The engine build features a Scat 4340 crank, Scat H beam rods, SRP Pistons, Clevite bearings, TCI flex plate, Powerbond balancer, Rollmaster timing chain set, Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam shaft and lifters, Comp cams Ultra Gold rocker arms, Edelbrock Victor Jnr alloy heads, Edelbrock super Victor intake, Holley 4150 Ultra HP competition series carb, and CSR billet electric water pump. Keeping things cool is a new upgraded radiator with twin thermo fans in a custom shroud.

The engine is paired to a built Turbo 400 automatic transmission with full manual valve body and B&M shifter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a Hardy Spicer balanced tail shaft into a nine inch diff. Exhaust gasses are expelled through a set of four into one headers into a custom stainless dual exhaust system. The steering is the factory rack and pinion and the suspension is lowered on Pedders Sports Ryder lowered springs.

These LX SS Torana hatchbacks are iconic Aussie muscle cars and among some of the best looking cars ever to come out of this country. This one has been neatly restored with a great period look and a bunch of performance upgrade to make it fun.
