This 1975 Holden LH Torana SL/R 5000 was built at GMH’s Dandenong plant, rolling off the production line on the 29th of May 1975 before being sold new by Wyong Motors in Victoria. The car has only had four owners from new and retains its original driveline which was rebuilt during the restoration.
The car was stripped back to bare metal and put on a rotisserie. It was an exceptional body to start with that required very few repairs to bring it back to new. Once the bodywork was completed the car was professionally refinished in its original colour scheme of Mandarin Red with Black stripes. The paint and body have been completed to a very high standard and present extremely well. The car sits on a set of correct original style wheels and tyres.
Inside the interior was completely refurbished in its original Slate black with Herringbone cloth inserts. The car received new seat covers, door trims, carpets and hood liner. The remnants of the factory air conditioning remains inside but would require all of the under bonnet hardware if you wished to have it reinstated. The instrumentation was refurbished and odometer zero’d during the restoration.
Under the bonnet, the original, matching numbers 308ci V8 engine has been rebuilt to standard specifications. The engine is paired to a M21, 4 speed manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels via a LSD Banjo diff which the previous owner tells us has all been rebuilt.
The restoration of the car was completed in January, 2014 with the car only travelling 3,500 kms since. The sale of the car includes a Holden Historical Services certificate to confirm authenticity.
