1973 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA 350

This 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 has been modified into a neat street cruiser. The current owner purchased the car in December of 2016 and imported it to Australia. Back then the car looked nothing like it does not, it was red in colour with Camaro seats and the engine, suspension brakes and steering all needed to be rebuilt.
The car was stripped back to bare metal and sent over to Bribie Kustom repairs to be professionally repainted. The front guards, front nose and frame, doors, rear spoiler and rear bumper were removed for the painting process. No major rust was found during the paint process and the car was coated in a custom mixed shade of bright orange with gloss black stripes. Other external upgrades include sequential LED tail lights fitted in 2019 along with new lenses purchased from Easy Performance USA. Chrome sill moulds were also fitted from a standard Firebird because the owner preferred that look. The overall vision is completed with a set of US Mag Rambler wheels finished in chrome and measuring 17 x 8” up front and 18 x 9.5” in the back.
The interior has received a full make over by Steve’s Trim in Bundaberg in 2019. The front seats were incorrect anyway so were swapped out for a pair from a Honda Prelude with the back seat modified and bolstered to match. The interior was covered in a custom bright orange and black to match the exterior. The door trims are also custom items by Steve’s Trim designed by the owner. The dash cap has been replaced and there is a new Momo steering wheel front and centre.
Under the bonnet is neatly presented and houses a 350ci Pontiac V8 that was fully rebuilt by RLD Engine reconditioning in December 2018. The block was bored 0.040 over, flat top pistons, 99cc heads 0.050 milled, 068 high lift cam, Elgin lifters, dynamic balance rotating assembly, all new bearings, match balance pistons and conrods, new Edelbrock intake manifold and new Edelbrock 600 cfm carb with electric choke. Spark is provided by a HEI distributer and there is a new fully adjustable timing chain kit. Exhaust gasses are expelled through a custom exhaust system by Fat Pipes at Kallangur. The car also received a new alternator, water pump and gear reduction starter motor. Keeping the engine bay looking fresh is a Marsh CVF pullet kit, billet bonnet hinges, custom braces and overflow tanks as well as new Pontiac script rocker covers.
