This 1972 Ford Falcon XA Hardtop has been through a nut and bolt rotisserie rebuild into a slick XA GT Replica. The car rolled off the production line in August of 1972 as Falcon 500 hardtop finished in Summer Gold and black interior running a 250 Hi comp six cyl and four speed manual transmission. Not much is known about its early life but the previous owner purchased it out of W.A where it had already had a 351 V8 fitted and was being used as a weekend cruiser and occasional track day car. He purchased the car and brought it over to QLD where he stripped it back to a shell and began the process or restoring it and transforming it into a GT Replica.

Starting with the body, it was completely sand blasted and placed on a rotisserie. It actually came back pretty nice from the blasters, it wasn’t a rusty car but did have some average past repairs that need attention. The car received a new tail panel and lowers and also had all of the appropriate V8 supports put in it. Turning it into a GT replica required some modifications so a genuine GT fluted bonnet was sourced along with GT fluted front guards. The car was completely repainted in arguably the best XA GT factory colour of Lime Glaze. From here the appropriate GT black outs were applied as well as the front and rear spoilers, GT grille, spotlights, badges and dual mirrors. The other accessory to note is the aluminium rear louvers which is a cool period touch. The coupe has the perfect stance for one of these things and pushed the limits on fitment to get big tyres on a car sitting nice and low. The look is completed with 17” Bathurst Globe style wheels wrapped in 245/45s up front and meaty 305/45s in the rear.

The interior of the car has also been completely refinished back to factory GT specs. The trim itself has been done in full B2 Black with cloth insert and provided by Reid McInnes of Muscle Car Interiors. There is a GT dash and steering wheel in place as well as centre console. There is a hidden Bluetooth stereo system for tunes while out cruising. The car runs a five speed manual transmission but is fitted with a four speed top loader gear knob so you wouldn’t tell looking inside the car. The boot has been completely painted in Lime Glaze to match the outside of the car with aluminium long range tank sitting in the middle. All of the rubbers and felts were replaced during the rebuild.

Lift the bonnet and you will find a very well presented engine bay in a factory style. Sitting in the middle is a 351ci Cleveland square block V8 engine. The engine is fitted with a Holley carb and electronic ignition with MSD blaster coil. The engine is paired to a five speed manual transmission source from a more modern E series Falcon. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch with LSD centre, 3.7 gears and 31 spline axles. The steering has been upgraded to include an electric power steering pump hidden up under the front guard. The brakes are power assisted discs on all four corners with slotted rotors up front.

This is a very well built Aussie muscle car and probably one of the coolest examples of an XA GT Hardtop replica in the country. The car is being sold at NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder at the end of the auction. If you’re looking for a bad ass Falcon Hardtop its time to break open those piggy banks, empty your pockets of change and put your best foot forward to own this one!
