This 1971 Ford XY started life as a factory V8, Y code Fairmont that has been fully rebuilt into a GT replica. The car has been through a full nut and bolt restoration and is highly detailed inside and out.
Externally the car is well presented having been repainted in one of the most popular XY colours, Gloss Black. The car has all of the usual GT appointments including Shaker hood, GT black outs, GT mirrors, badging, driving lights, grille and front and rear spoilers. A contrasting Gold GT stripe runs down the side of the car. The chrome bumpers and bright work was refinished during the restoration. The car contains one of the most desirable options you could get on an XY with a wind back sunroof providing an open and airy feel inside. The look is completed with a set of 16” Simmons wheels with gold centres to match the side stripe.
Inside the car is neatly trimmed in the factory GT style using black basket weave pattern. The car has a GT style dash, steering wheel and centre console along with the GTHO decal on the glovebox lid. The floors received new black carpets and there is a new black headliner up top. There is a venetian blind in the rear window and airy feel in the cabin thanks to the wind back sunroof. The car has been assembled with all new rubbers and cad plated bolts and catches. Inside the boot is presented like factory with a new rubber mat covering with 36 gallon big tank.
Under the bonnet is a fully rebuilt 351ci Cleveland V8 engine sitting in a highly detailed engine bay. The engine bay features cad plated bolts and all the original style decals and battery cover. Exhaust gasses escape through aftermarket headers into a dual exhaust system. The engine is paired to a four-speed Top Loader manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through ford 9 inch diff. The suspension and brakes are both rebuilt factory items.
These XY GT Replicas are always extremely popular when we get them in the showroom and this one has all the right running gear and has been finished in Gloss Black with the most desirable XY option, a wind back sunroof. The car was completed last year and has travelled very few miles since.
