This 1971 Ford XY Falcon GS K code is a one of one in it’s factory specification and has been fully restored. The car rolled off the production line in December of 1971 and was built as a Falcon 500 with a K code, 351ci 2V V8 engine, L code four speed manual transmission and finished in U code Ultra white with S code Light Saddle interior. Listed on the cars options list was Seat belts, Power disc brakes, front bucket seats, sports console, Carpets, Limited slip differential, G.S Rallye Pack, Dual exhaust system and Radial ply tyres. The car was sold new through Southern Ford in Goulburn NSW.
The car underwent a full restoration which was completed just prior to the current owner purchasing it in 2015. The body of the car was stripped back to bare metal and professionally repainted in its original colour of Ultra White. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim was all either refinished or replaced at the same time. Once the paintwork was complete, the factory Gold GS Stripe was applied back down the side of the car. There are a set of factory style driving lights up front, a front spoiler and the bonnet has been fitted with GT style bonnet pins and hood shaker. To complete the look externally, the car sits on a set of period 16” genuine Simmons three piece wheels.
Inside the car has been completely restored back to factory in its original Saddle colour. The carpets are all new as is the trim on the seats. The factory style GS steering wheel and dash remain in place. The manual shifter sticks up from the optional centre console. The factory stereo remains in place in the dash as do the original seat belts. The boot is also refinished to a factory look with a reproduction factory style rubber floor mat.
Under the bonnet live the original matching numbers K code engine which has been fully rebuilt with mild upgrades. The engine now features alloy heads, a Parker Racing Funnelweb intake and Barry Grant Claw Performance carburettor. Spark is provided by an MSD Blaster coil and MSD Pro-Billet distributor. The engine is paired to the factory four-speed Top Loader manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through the factory nine inch diff with Tru-trac centre. The suspension and brakes are all restored factory items.
