This 1971 Ford Falcon XY Ute has been rebuilt into a GT Replica ute with some extra performance upgrades. Ford never made a GT in an XY utility but there was certainly a market for them. This car looks like what could have been but packs more mumbo under the bonnet than a real GT ever had.
The body of the ute has been fully repainted in Yellow Glo which was an original GT colour. The car features a GT bonnet with shaker and pins, GT Grille with spot lights, GT front spoiler, GT Mirrors, GT side stripe and GT paint black outs. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim has been refinished or replaced and there is a colour coded lockable hard lid over the tub in the back. The look externally is completed with a set of 18” Genuine Simmons wheels.
Inside the GT theme continues with a GT style interior finished in black to contrast the bright exterior. Up front there are bucket seats which have been retrimmed. The dash and steering wheel and centre console are all GT style items. Hinting of something tougher under the bonnet is a B&M quick shifter neatly mounted into the centre console. Under the hard lid in the back is a checker plate floor with fuel cell mounted up front.
Under the bonnet is a 351ci Cleveland V8 that has been completely built and stroked to 393ci. The engine featured an active high-rise manifold with Barry Grant Carburettor. The engine is paired to a C4 automatic transmission with B&M shifter and high stall converter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch diff with 31 spline axles. A set of aftermarket extractors and custom dual exhaust give the ute a tough note. There is evidenced of some patch repairs underneath the car and the rear end of the car has been modified and converted to ladder bars with adjustable coil overs. The brakes up front have been upgraded to slotted discs up front.
These XY Falcon utes are Aussie Icons and this one has been transformed into a GT replica. The car is offered for sale at NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder at the end of the auction.
