This is a very original example of a 1970 Holden LC GTR Torana. The car has never been fully restored, just maintained and given a minor cosmetic tidy up in the way of a closed door repaint in its original colour and some original style front seat covers. As much as we love a brand new fully restored car as much as anyone, there is something about the authenticity that goes along with a maintained car like this that you just can’t get in a restored example.
The body of the car is in good shape all round having been repainted in its original colour of Indy Orange. The car maintains its signature GTR fluted front guards and typical black outs and stripes that make it easy to identify. The bright work on the car is in good condition for a car of its age and it sits over a set of repainted factory style 13” rally wheels with dress trims.
Inside the car remains mostly original trim with the exception of the covers on the two front bucket seats. The rest of the interior appears to be original and while quite presentable, shows minor signs of age as you would expect. The HK Monaro GTS style steering wheel remains in place and the standard GTR dash features the correct extra instrumentation including tacho, speedo, oil pressure, water temp, ammeter, and fuel gauge.
Under the bonnet is the original 161ci 6 cylinder engine in its original presentation. The engine is paired to the factory four speed manual transmission. The suspension has remained factory and the factory disc brakes remain up front with drums on the rear and power booster, big nut dual master cylinder.
These little GTR Toranas don’t come up very often and this is a very original and honest example without looking tatty and old. A decent investment grade Aussie sports car for someone who values originality over outright restoration. The car has been inspected by ICAARS for authenticity.
