1970 Ford Falcon XW GT Sedan

HIGHLIGHTS: – Highly desirable XW GT Falcon – Believed to have been rebodied early in its life – Rotisserie restored with tasteful modifications – Professionally repainted in Diamond white – Built 351ci Cleveland V8 engine – Built and manualised C4 automatic transmission – Nine inch diff with 3.9 ratio – RRS Coil over front end – Rack and pinion steering – Four wheel disc brakes – 18” polished three-piece Simmons wheels

This 1970 Ford Falcon XW GT has been fully rebuilt and tastefully modified into a tough street machine. According to the tags, the car was assembled at the Broadmeadows plant in Victoria before being sold new in Blacktown, NSW. The car decodes as a Diamond white with Black interior GT Falcon with a 351ci V8 engine and four speed manual transmission. The car’s early history isn’t clear but it was rebodied at some stage in its life.

The car was purchased by the current owner two years ago after it has just been through a full ground up rebuild. The body of the car was stripped back to bare metal and placed on a rotisserie to receive any necessary repairs before being professionally repainted in Diamond White. The appropriate GT Blackouts were reapplied and Orange GT stripe placed down the side. The front and rear bumper and stainless trim on the car was all either refinished or replaced. The car squats down nice and low over a set of polished 18” Simmons three-piece wheels.

The interior of the car has also been completely refinished back to factory in its original black vinyl. Everything inside from the carpets to the headliner is either new or refurbished during the resto. The console between the bucket seats holds what initially appears to be a manual shifter but is actually the automatic shifter in disguise.

Lift the bonnet and you will find a highly detailed engine bay housing a fully built 351ci Cleveland V8 engine. The engine build features H-beam rods, forged pistons, a solid roller cam and aluminium heads. There is an external oil cooler and transmission cooler with fan. The engine is paired to a built and fully manualised C4 automatic transmission with 5600 rpm, 8 inch stall convertor. Power is fed through a custom built tail shaft into a nine inch diff with 3.9 ratio and 31 spine billet axels. The front suspension has been upgraded with RRS adjustable coil overs up front and leaf springs with Koni shocks in the rear. The rear end is also setup with brackets for tramp bars but not currently fitted. The steering is an RRS Power rack and pinion set up and the brakes have been upgraded to be power assisted discs on all four corners.

This 1970 Ford XW GT has been extensively rebuilt and has some awesome upgrades used throughout. Being a rebodied GT, if you pop the bonnet at a car show, it still wears GT tags and numbers like an original would but gives you some licence to make something a bit tougher like this one without having to worry about destroying its originality and associated value.
