This 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 has been through a full rotisserie restoration here in Australia. The 1969 Boss 302 was a special model Mustang developed by Ford for racing homologation in the SCAA race series. As a result, 1,628 Boss 302 Mustangs were built in 1969 and sold to customers for road use. What made the Boss unique was its engine setup, essentially it was a 302 Windsor fitted with Cleveland heads to allow it for flow better. Other than the head change it received a strengthened engine block, 8 valve cover bolts instead of the usual 6, High-strength steel connecting rods and smaller spark plugs to made more room for the valves. Although most of the changes were centered around the engine this wasn’t the only difference. The car needed to handle, stop and steer so a wide range of other components were upgraded along with specific styling like the side stripe, black bonnet and headlight black outs. These days Boss 302’s are highly sought after by Mustang collectors around the world.

This particular car comes to us from a private collection. The car was fully restored on a rotisserie here in Australia with photos to document the restoration process. The car is restored in its original code 9, Bright Yellow paintwork. The car was stripped back to a bare shell and placed on a rotisserie during this process with red oxide under the floors like it would have been from the factory. Inside the interior has been completely restored to factory specs in its original code 2A Black vinyl. The iconic Hurst four-speed shifter sits up proudly between the front bucket seats.

Under the bonnet is not the original Ford 302 but it is a correct warranty replacement block which is still standard bore and has all of the correct Boss pistons, rods, crank, heads and intake. The carburettor is the correct Holley C9ZF-J part. Likewise, the gearbox is the correct RUG wide ratio box with tag. The rear end is the right nodular rear end with 31 spline 3.91 traction lock ratio that it left the factory with. The suspension and front end are all Boss items and include factory power steering and disc brake front end.

The car does come with a Marti report and the car is listed in the Boss 302 registry. Another thing that makes this car interesting is that the Vin 9F02TG222902 is the last known 1969 Boss vin recorded in the registry which means this could well be the last 69 Boss ever built.
