This 1968 Pontiac Firebird coupe has been neatly restored and tastefully upgraded. The car was initially restored by the previous owner back in 2008 before being purchased by the current owner in late 2015. He has continued to improve on the car during his ownership having fitted the custom interior and upgraded the driveline.

The body of the car was restored back in 2008 with paint and panel work by Brad Enzol in Toowoomba, QLD. The car is painted in PPG Deltrone D-789 Jet Black base coat with 2 pac clear coat. The front and rear bumpers have been rechromed and all of the stainless trim on the car has been straightened and polished. The car remains true to its factory styling on the outside with no major body modifications. There is a front chin spoiler and the car sits on a set of staggered Boyd Coddington Junk Yard Dog wheels measuring 18×8” up front and 20×10” in the rear.

Open the door are you will find a well finished custom interior finished in black leather by Murray Rogan at South East Automotive Upholstery. All four seats were sourced from a HSV GTO Monaro with the fronts being electric reclining bucket seats that tilt forward for passenger entry to the rear of the car. The seats were re-trimmed in black cow hide with red stitching and Pontiac emblems. Custom door trims were made to match and the console in the rear is a retrimmed HX Monaro item. All new gauges were used in the dash with aftermarket SS 68 Camaro main gauges in the cluster along with a trio of Autometer gauges up top and another in the console. The top of dash is fitted with a head up speedo display. The floor and boot has all been fitted with plush black carpet while up top the hood lining has been replaced incorporating VF Commodore front reading lights with the centre interior light re-positioned to the rear of the car. The sun visors have automatic lights and mirrors from VF Commodore. All instrumentation lights have been converted to blue LED lights. For tunes while cruising there is a Pioneer stereo system with four speakers.

Lift the bonnet and you will be greeted by an extremely well detailed, show quality engine bay. Sitting in the middle is a Pontiac 400ci Pontiac V8 that has been fully rebuilt and upgraded. The engine built includes Edelbrock aluminium heads, Edelbrock RPM Performer intake and Comp cam. Fuel and spark are managed by a fully matching Holley sniper fuel injection, distributor, coil pack, electronic ignition box and electric fuel pump. Even the thermo fans attached to the upgraded alloy radiator are controlled by the Holley sniper control panel. The whole engine bay is gloss painted with chrome parts used wherever possible including billet hood hinges. The engine is paired to a shift kitted Turbo 350 automatic transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through a 10 bolt GM diff with LSD centre.

The same level of detail shown in the engine bay extends to the underside of the car. The suspension has been upgraded by Protrac in Browns Plains with Tubular upper and lower A arms, new ball joints, upgraded shocks and extra large sway bar up front while the rear received upgraded shocks and extra leaf springs. The brakes have been upgraded with new booster and dual master cylinder feeding four wheels discs with drilled and slotted rotors up front. The steering system received a chrome power steering pump and chrome Ididit tilt steering column. The electric fuel pump is fed by a brand new polished stainless steel tank. Exhaust gasses are expelled by four into one headers into a polished custom 2.5 inch system by Bryan Pratt at Exhaust Innovations in Capalaba.

This is an awesome example of a fully restored and tastefully upgraded American muscle car. The car has been mod plated for QLD and the sale of the car comes complete with a large receipt file including PHS documentation and owners manuals. Examples like this don’t come up very often to be sure to register and bid if you want to see this bad boy parked in your garage.
