1968 HOLDEN HK MONARO GTS 327 TRIBUTE

HIGHLIGHTS: – HK GTS327 Monaro rebody/tribute – Fully restored approximately 10 years ago – Highly desirable Silver Mink with black interior – Period correct 327ci V8 engine – Four-speed manual transmission – Steel wheels with GTS caps

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The current owner of this car purchased it as a fully restored, genuine GTS 327 ‘Bathurst’ Monaro and has owned the car for over 10 years as part of his collection. As part of our consignment process on high-end, collector grade, muscle cars, we submitted the car to be inspected and independently verified by ICAARS for authenticity. The car did very well in its inspection however after detailed analysis of the tags and stampings by ICAARS, it was determined that the approximate dates of the tags and the sequence indicated by the body number, did not line up in their time frames when compared with other known examples. In light of this information, we have spoken with the consignor and updated the description of this vehicle to be described as a rebody/tribute rather than a genuine correct GTS 327 Bathurst car.
The owner who is naturally disappointed but is a fair and reasonable gent, has agreed to run the car with NO RESERVE to let the market decide its true value. The car is still an excellent example that has been very well restored and took a panel of experts some time to decide that it couldn’t be verified using a private database of other known examples. We have allowed any bidders who had placed a bid on the car prior to this update to withdraw their bids, and the bidding has now resumed with no reserve under the updated description

This 1968 Holden HK GTS 327 Monaro began life in Holden’s Dandenong plant in Melbourne. The car is tagged as an 81837 GTS 327 ‘Bathurst’ Monaro finished from the factory in code 587-1704 Silver Mink with 1150-10X Black interior.

The car was purchased by a collector approximately 10 years ago after recently completing a full restoration. The paintwork on the car has been completely refinished to a high standard in the factory Silver Mink metallic with Black GTS stripe over the top. The chrome and brightwork has all been refinished of replace and the look is complete with a set of original wheels with GTS caps and period red striped tyres.

The interior has also been given the full treatment. The Carpets and headliner have both been replaced. The seat frames have been restored with new covers over the top. The dash and gauges are correct GTS items with the console mounted tacho in front of the floor shifter. The boot contains a period correct spare with rubber mat covering the big fuel tank.

Under the bonnet is a period correct, non matching, 327ci V8 engine. The engine bay is nicely detailed and dressed completely back to a standard finish. The engine is paired to a four-speed manual transmission. The suspension has all been fully refurbished and the brakes are rebuilt standard items including the big nut master cylinder. Underneath the car is nicely detailed and you can see the car hasn’t done a lot of work since the restoration was completed.

Due to the update in the car’s description, the vehicle is now being offered at NO RESERVE and will be sold to the highest bidder!
