This 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe has been fully restored and extensively upgraded. These early Mustang coupes are always popular American classic cruisers and cars that are universally appreciated. This particular example packs a little more punch than most with upgrades in appearance, performance, reliability and creature comforts.

Starting with the body, the car has been repainted in a factory ’67 Mustang colour, Clearwater Aqua in the early 2000s. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim was also refurbished or replaced at the same time. The body itself remains factory in presentation but has a lowered stance over a set of period 15” Magstar II alloy wheels.

Inside the car was completely stripped with the floors inspected, cleaned, seams resealed, painted and dynamat applied. New carpets were then placed over the top and the interior was given a retrim in two tone Aqua. The original style steering wheel remains in place and the original gauges are complimented with a small Autometer tacho and GPS speedo. On the floor is a B&M Quick shifter, a clue that there it might be packing something better than factory under the hood. To keep the interior comfortable there is an under dash air conditioning system fitted.

Pop the bonnet and things start getting interesting. The engine bay has all been painted in body colour rather than the factory satin black and sitting in the middle is the matching numbers 289ci V8 that has been fully rebuilt and stroked to 347ci. The engine work was performed by Westend Performance in Campbeltown, NSW and includes an Eagle Crank, Clevite bearings, Lower cylinder notches, block machined for one piece rear main, ARP studs and Trick Flow stud girdle, Eagle Rods and .040 Keith Black pistons, balanced and blueprinted, Meling oil pump, Rollmaster timing chain and gears, Romac balancer, large capacity sump, AFR 185cc alloy cylinder heads with roller rockers, ARP stud head bolts, crane cam, Anit pump up hydraulic lifters, 5/16 push rods and topped with a Weiand stealth manifold and Holley 770 street avenger carb with vac secondaries and electric choke. The engine looks the business thanks to ford racing valve covers and air cleaner. Exhaust gasses escape through Tri-Y headers and a sports exhaust. The cooling system has been upgraded with a PWR Radiator, Holley water pump and electric thermo fan. Power is supplied by a new heavy duty battery relocated to the boot, 100amp alternator, Accel electronic distributer and ignition coil.

The engine is paired with a C4 automatic transmission built by Active Auto Transmissions in Blacktown NSW. The trans features heavy duty modifications, 26 spline input shaft conversion, stage two shift kit, Art Carr code 2 2500rpm stall converter, extra large trans cooler and B&M ratchet shifter. The power is fed to the rear wheels through the factory diff that has been overhauled with an Eaton TruTrac limited slip centre. The suspension up front received Lovells springs, Pedders gas shocks, Shelby drop, Wedge plates on top ball joint and a large sway bar. The rear suspension has been converted to a TCI Triangulated four-link with coil overs. The steering is power assisted with an Astra electric power steering pump. The brakes have also been converted to four-wheel power discs with Kelsey Hayes four pistons up front and RRS discs on the rear.

The car has been blue plated in Queensland for the modification performed and the sale includes a large documentation file with receipts, manuals and information from the build.
