This is 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible has been converted to right hand drive and lovingly restored over a number of years. The current owner has had the car for 25 years and finally decided its time for the next person to enjoy it.

First generation Mustangs are always popular and for good reason, they are iconic classic American cruisers, reasonably affordable, reliable without being overly complex and with loads of parts readily available for repairs or modifications if required. This particular Mustang is in great condition and has been lovingly cared for and upgraded by its current owner during the course of his ownership.

The body of the car presents very well having been professionally repaired in 2004 by Nambour Smash Repairs. The bright red colour always looks great on these cars and contrasts well against the chrome work which has been either refinished or replaced throughout the car. The vinyl convertible top is raised and lowered by the flick of a switch with the canvas being recently replaced. The look externally is finished with a set of GT style wheels with red striped tyres.

The interior of the car is all to factory spec in black vinyl with buckets up front and a bench in the rear. You will notice the car has been converted to right hand drive which is a huge bonus. There is some optional instrumentation in the form of two gauges attached to the steering column. Front and centre is a wood rimmed steering wheel with T-bar auto shifter on the floor between the front seats. Lap sash seatbelts have been added for safety. There is an older style Pioneer head unit in the dashboard with speakers in boxes fitted into the boot. The boot itself is lined with the factory style tartan mat.

Pop the bonnet and you will find a 289ci V8 engine that has been fully rebuilt and slightly upgraded by Barnes Performance in 2005. The engine build featured a slight cam, Edelbrock alloy heads and intake manifold as well as a new Holley carburettor. The engine is paired to a Ford AOD four speed transmission which was rebuilt by Ron Hill transmission in 2008. Feeding power to the rear wheels is a 9 inch limited slip differential. The brakes have been upgraded to include discs up front with drums in the rear. Other upgrades include a new alloy radiator with electric fan, water temp monitor and aftermarket alarm system.

These little first gen Mustangs are great little classic cruisers. This particular example being a convertible model and converted to right hand drive with some neat upgrades makes it particularly desirable.
