This 1965 Ford Mustang is an iconic American classic that has been nealty restored and tastefully upgraded. The car was purchased by the current owner 20 years ago. The car had already been converted to right hand drive and had much of the restoration work done. During his ownership he has looked after the car along with upgrading the driveline with a new engine combination, rebuilding the gearbox and addition of the overdrive.

Starting with the body, the car has been repainted in red with a bunch of GT style upgrades fitted. Up front there is a GT style spotlight grille and the rear is fitted with a GT valance with exhaust pipes coming through the valance. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim on the car has all either been refinished or replace. The car sits down low over a set of chrome 17” Foose wheels.

Inside there is also a bunch of period upgrades. The first thing you will notice is that the car has been converted to right hand drive. The seats have been trimmed with the optional ‘Pony interior in black. The dash has GT style gauges with the optional steering wheel mounted gauges added. There is also a gauge pod on top of the dash with three additional gauges to make sure you know everything that’s happening under the hood. The doors are fitted with deluxe style door trims and there is a deluxe centre console with woodgrain trim. There is an under dash air conditioning unit mounted in the cabin but the compressor and items under the bonnet aren’t fitted.

Under the bonnet lives a cranky little alloy headed 302ci Windsor V8 engine that was built by Abbot Engineering in 2013. The engine build features Edelbrock Performer RPM Alloy heads, Edelbrock air gap manifold and Edelbrock carburettor. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of Pacemaker headers into a stainless steel dual exhaust system. Keeping things cool is an aluminium radiator with electric thermo fan.

The engine is paired to a fully rebuilt C4 automatic transmission which has been upgraded with a Gear Vendors overdrive. The car sits on factory style suspension which with lowered springs and the brakes are power assisted items with GT style Kelsey Hayes discs up front and the factory drums in the rear.

A large documentation and receipt file is included with the sale of the car which shows how well it has been looked after over the years. These first-generation Mustangs are iconic and always popular when we get them in. This is a neatly restored example that has been converted to right hand drive and features a bunch of upgrades.
