1965 Dodge Coronet 426 Hemi

HIGHLIGHTS: – Fully restored 1965 Coronet Coupe – Fitted with Legendary 426ci Hemi V8 – Automatic transmission – Professionally repainted in bright red – Custom interior trim in black with red highlights – Disc brake front end – 15” American Racing Wheels – Photo folder documenting restoration

This 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 has been through a full ground up restoration and upgraded into a 426 Hemi tribute. This is the most upmarket of the Coronet Models for 1965 being a 500 sport coupe with a hard top roof. The car was a V8 car from factory but has been transformed into a tribute of a 426 Hemi during its restoration.

The car was a nice driver quality example to start with but it was stripped down with some minor repaired before being fully repainted inside and out in bright red. The car features a big vented door to give a clue of something big lurking below the surface. All of the chrome and bright work on the car has been refinished. Finally there is some badging and decals on the front guard to warn anyone pulling up next to you at the lights that she’s packing a 426 Hemi. The look is completed with a set of period look 15” satin grey centred American Racing wheels.

Inside the car has been treated to a complete retrim in black with red highlights. The seats themselves have been well finished with perforated inserts through the middle and contrasting red piping and stitching. There is a centre console that housed the automatic shifter splitting the front bucket seats. Carpets are all new and there is an older aftermarket stereo system in the dash.

Under the big vented bonnet you will see what makes this particular Coronet so special, the 426ci Hemi V8. The engine is branded with Ray Barton Racing Engines on both the intake and the valve covers. To keep the big beast cool there is an upgraded alloy radiator. The engine is paired to an automatic transmission. To pull up that added horsepower, there is a set of disc brakes up front and a dual master cylinder.

These 65 Coronet 500 Coupes don’t come up very often and they are a cool American Muscle car for guys who want something a little bit different to the norm. The fact this one is nicely restored with the legendary 426 Hemi under the hood should be enough to get any Mopar muscle car guy drooling.
