1965 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

This 1965 Cadillac Coupe DeVille have been through a full ground up custom build into one of Australia’s coolest custom cruisers. The car was rebuilt by Southern Rod and Custom in Shepparton, Victoria, who are well known for their high end, show quality custom builds.

Starting with the body, the caddy was stripped right back to bare metal and countless hours put in to ensuring the big, long, flat panels of the car were straight. Once everything was dialled in, the car was fully repainted in Custom Black PPG by the guys at Southern Rod and Custom. The car was then handed over to Renowned artist Mat Egan from Extreme Designs who laid down the custom candy and metal flake patterned roof, custom pin striping and hand turned gold leaf. The chrome on the exterior of the car was all completely refinished to a show quality. During the reassembly all new rubbers and weather stripping were used. The car sits slammed down to the ground thanks to airbag suspension controlled by Accuair E-level air management. E-level allows the car to have three present ride heights and will self-level as the car is driving along. Completing the custom look is a set of 22×9” Polished Centerline Smoothie wheels wrapped in 265/35/22 tyres.

Inside the car has also been completely refinished with a full custom trim in red leather by Option Auto Trim. The floor have been coated in Dynamat before the plush high quality red carpets were laid over the top. The factory bench seats front and rear have been retrimmed in soft red leather with fold down arm rests fitted with custom cup holders both front and rear. The door trims have been treated to the same red leather and there is a red suede headliner up top. A full ‘Vintage Air’ Magnum integrated air condition system is fitted to keep things cool inside. The normal Caddy creature comforts remain in place with power windows, power seat and power steering. For tunes while cruising there is a Bluetooth head unit paired to a full JBL stereo system with custom speaker grilles fabbed into the trim. The boot has been fully panelled out and trimmed to match the interior.

Under the bonnet is the original Cadillac 429ci V8 engine which has been completely rebuilt during the restoration. The engine has recently been upgraded with a Holley Sniper fuel injection system. The engine bay is well detailed with everything neatly painted. The engine is paired to the original column shifter automatic transmission which has also been fully rebuilt. Exhaust gases escape through a new 2 ½ inch custom exhaust system. The car is slammed low to the ground thanks to air suspension which features Custom A-Arms up front and custom trailing arms in the rear built by Chassis Works Australia. The brakes are the original items that have been completely rebuilt.  The charging system has been upgraded to include a larger alternator and there are twin Optima batteries mounted up front.

This would have to be one of the highest quality custom Cadillac builds in the country. The car was completed approximately 2 ½ years ago, it has only travelled around 100km since. A fantastic opportunity to pick up one of Australia’s best custom Cadillacs.
