This Superformance Mark III Shelby Cobra is an all new build finished in the hero colour combination of Royal Blue with Wimbledon white stripes. This particular example, was delivered and first registered on Victorian Club plates in August 2017. The is still with its original owner and has been meticulously cared for throughout its existence. With under 3,500 km on the odometer, this Cobra has never graced a racetrack and has always been sheltered in a temperature-controlled garage.
The Superformance MKIII cars stand out as the only Cobra replica built under license from Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. What sets it apart from its competitors? Well, first and foremost, it captures the essence of the original Cobra with unmatched precision. Its appearance evokes the nostalgic charm of the legendary sport roadsters from the sixties. Beyond its authentic aesthetics, the MKIII delivers on its promise of reliable and exhilarating performance.
This Superformance Mark III comes equipped with a Ford Coyote NA 5.0 Litre crate engine (2015 spec M-6007-A5ONAA) supplied by Ford Racing in the USA. The Haltec ECU ensures optimal engine management and has chipped up Horsepower beyond the 435hp to racetrack standards. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission for a proper analogue sports car feeling. A heavy-duty TIG welded ladder frame chassis, combined with fully independent front and rear suspension provides stability and precise handling. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. Braking is provided by power assisted, Wilwood vented disc brakes all round with 4-pot calipers up front and single pot in the rear. Keeping things cool is an aluminium, single-core hi-performance radiator with a shroud and dual fans as well as an oil cooler with braided lines.
Externally, the body of the car is true to the dimensions of a real Shelby 427 Cobra. High quality two-stage paint work in the hero colours of Royal Blue with Wimbledon white stripes finishes the hand-laminated fiberglass body. A single chassis mounted roll bar adorns the rear of the car on the drivers side and a Monza-style filler with a locking gas cap, combines practicality and style. The chrome side exhausts aren’t functional but cleverly conceal the actual exhaust which runs behind them. This make it sound like the car has functional side pipe without the risk of burning yourself on them as you get in and out of the car. Completing the look externally is a set of 15-inch, true knock-off wheels, wrapped in period-correct Avon tires measuring 245 wide in the front, and 295 wide in the rear.
The interior is again true to the original but in a right hand drive format. Original style pedals, door catches, an original style shifter, hand brake lever and original style latch-lock seat belts all add to the authenticity of the driving experience. Sun visors, wind wings, and wipers and washers have been added for convenience. A Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel and original style gauges by Smith and switches by Lucas, including a reverse speedometer, add a touch of authenticity. The glove box is lockable to provide secure storage while parked. The trunk area has been carpeted with a trickle charger connection for convenient battery maintenance.
This Superformance Mark III Shelby Cobra is a timeless classic that combines the allure of the original Cobra with modern engineering excellence. It represents a rare opportunity to own a meticulously maintained, low-mileage example that has never experienced the rigors of track racing. The Superformance cars stand out as a level of detail above most other Cobra replicas in the market and rarely become available for sale.
