This 1964 Holden EH Premier Sedan is rare and iconic Aussie classic car that has been through a full ground up restoration. The car was built in the Acacia Ridge plant in Brisbane and left the factory as a Premier sedan finished in two tone Fowlers Ivory over Valley Mist Green. What makes this car a bit more unique is that it is a factory column shift manual of which it is believed there was only approximately 600 built.

The car was sold new to Miss C Cuffe on the 12th of June, 1964 through General Motors Cunnamulla. She owned the car until she passed away in late 1972 where the car was purchased by another Cunamulla local, Mr C Lanskey with 11,000 miles on the odometer. He owned the car for 32 years before selling it to the current owner from Buderim QLD in 2005 with 78,000 miles on it. He did the restoration on the car over a couple of years before selling it to a gent in Adelaide in July of 2009. The gent in Adelaide kept improving the car before the current owner bought the car back again last year.

The body of the car was stripped down for paintwork where it was found to be in generally good condition which isn’t surprising given it lived most of its life in dry South West QLD. While there was no rust in the floors, sils or plenum, some of the hanging panels did need minor repairs and the two front guards were replaced. With the repairs completed the car was professionally resprayed in its original Fowlers Ivory over Seamist Green using Glasurit 2 pack. The chrome was refinished on the front and rear bumpers as well as the over riders and door scratch plates. The car is fitted with a bunch of standard Prem features including wind splits and over riders as well as a bunch of genuine NASCO accessories like the centre bonnet spear, Sunvisor, hinged headlight protectors, boot handle and mud flaps. The external look is completed with a set of 13” steel wheels with rechromed hubcaps and dress rings wrapped in white wall tyres.

Inside the car has been completely refinished in its original Somoan Tan colour but using Italian leather. The floor was sound proofed before being custom fitted with Mercedes Benz carpets. The original pattern headliner was replaced overhead. The seats, door cards and arm rests all received the leather treatment. A period correct Holden Blue dot radio remains in the dash with an aftermarket head unit mounted neatly below it. There is a fully restored original Warmaride heater/demister/fan. All the factory gauges were restored including the fully rebuilt NASCO clock. Three extra gauges in the dash monitor amps, oil and temp. For safety there are five new lap sash seat belts fitted. Original Prem features include boot light, glovebox light, hand brake warning light, day/night rear view mirror, rear passenger strap handles and twin horns. NASCO accessories inside include the under dash parcel tray and rear venetian blind.

Under the bonnet lives the original, matching number 179ci six cyl engine which has been fully rebuilt. The engine received new pistons, rings, bearings, camshaft, lifters and the heads machined for unleaded fuel. The original carb was rebuilt and the ignition system has been upgraded to electronic ignition with new coil, plugs and leads. The engine is paired to the factory three on the tree, column shift manual transmission which was reconditioned in 2010.

Underneath the car the front end has been fully rebuilt with NOS parts and painted in 2 pack black. The suspension received new rear springs and Koni shocks all round. The brakes were fully rebuilt with new vacuum booster. New master cylinders were fitted to both the clutch and brakes. The steering received a reco column, steering box and steering brace.

The sale of the car comes complete with a large history file with receipts and info. It also includes the original log books from new and sales brochure. If you’re in the market for a high quality and rare EH Premier it’s time to start emptying the piggy banks.
