This 1964 Chevy Impala SS Coupe has been through a full ground up rebuilt into a custom lowrider and a rolling piece of Art! Lowriding culture is all about expression and they don’t come much more creative or expressive than this 64 SS! A well-rounded build in all ways on the most iconic lowrider model of all time, a 64 SS impala.

By far the biggest feature on this build is the custom engraving! Krazy Kutting in Arizona in the US was tasked with supplying the massive amount of engraving for the car. Rather than using reproduction items, Krazy Kutting source original parts from donor cars and completely engrave them by hand before having them chromed and sent out. The sheer amount of engraving on this car is mind boggling. Essentially every single trim or piece of chrome on the car both inside and out has been completely or at least partially custom engraved. The amount of time and money invested in the engraving alone is absolutely phenomenal.

Starting with the body, the Impala has been through a full professional custom repaint by YC Customs. The necessary bodywork was performed before the car was completed repainted. The car was originally Daytona Blue from the factory and the colour is a nod to this with slightly more metallic flip. Once the base was laid down, the car was sent to Mick at High Impact auto Art to do the patterns on the roof. The owner didn’t want it to be over the top but complimentary to the colour and build. There are dual antennas on the back and spats over the rear wheels. In fitting with the lowrider theme, naturally the car is on hydraulic suspension. The car sits over a set of 100 spoke 13” wire wheels with….. you guessed it, custom engraving.

Inside the level of detail continues, even the leading edge of the door when you open it features a fully engraved panel. The interior has been completely refinished by JV Trimming and being a factory SS, features bucket seats up front with centre console. The carpets have been replaced as has the blue vinyl trim on the seats and door trims using items from Ciadella Interiors. Up front there is a Dakota Digital dash cluster to keep an eye on what’s happening under the hood. There is an Alpine Bluetooth headunit for tunes while out cruising and a period accessory Colour Bar mounted under the dash in front of the passenger. There is a bank of six switches in front of the driver to control the hydraulic suspension. Again, every single piece of chrome or trim inside the car features custom engraving. Open the boot and you will find a custom fit out with a total of eight batteries in custom made cradles and three pumps to run the hydraulic suspension system.

Pop the bonnet and you will find the factory 327ci Chevy V8 engine that has been rebuilt with a mild cam and electronic ignition. The engine is paired to a Turbo 400 Automatic transmission. The power is fed to the rear wheels through a shortened and braced chevy differential. The suspension has been upgraded to hydraulics with strengthened control arms. Under the bonnet is again adorned with engraving absolutely everywhere. The engine itself features a custom engraved air cleaner setup and rocker covers from Krazy Kutting. The whole underside of the bonnet as well as the under side of the boot features engraved panels.

The level of detail in this build is absolutely out of this world, you really need to see the car in person to be able to appreciate the level. Since completion the car has been features as a joint cover car and feature article in Cruzin Magazine. Car’s like this don’t come along very often, a 64 SS Impala is an iconic car in its own right, but one with this level or detail and custom work, really becomes a rolling piece of art.
