This 1960 Chevy Corvette has been through a full ground up rebuild into a cool custom Restomod. The car was purchased by current owner approximately 5 years ago out of the US. The intention was always to be a full restomod build, the car was a supposed to be a complete however wasn’t quite that way when it arrived. It was still a decent base to build and the small items missing wasn’t the end of the world since everything was being replaced anyway. The car was fully built over the next three years and has been completed for approximately two years.

To start the build, the body was removed from chassis which was given a massive update to bring the handling more in line with a modern sports car than a 50s cruiser. The chassis received a Jim Myers front end complete with rack and pinion steering up front while the rear end was four linked with coil overs all round. The brakes were upgraded to be power assisted disc on all four corners.

The old school small block V8 is gone under the hood and has been replaced with some modern technology in the was of an LS2 6.0L V8. The engine was upgraded with a mild cam, Holley sniper injection and intake,  Meziere electric water pump and dressed with billet valve covers for a neat look. The engine is paired to a Tremec, T56 six speed manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through a 9 inch differential with LSD centre, 31 spline axles and 3.5:1 diff gears. All of these upgrades give you a classic Corvette that would run rings around any original or restored car performance wise.

The owner used to be a professional painter and panel beater so he was able to do the paint and body on the car himself to an extremely high standard. The body has retained all of its factory lines and styling factory without any major modifications. The only adjustments that were made are hidden underneath with mini tubs neatly fitted in the rear to allow for bigger rubber. The car was coated in a deep gloss black with contrasting silver side coves. The chrome work on the car was all either refinished or replaced at the same time. The car sits over a set of 18” polished American Racing Salt Flat wheels measuring 8” wide up front and 9.5” wide in the rear. A factory style removable hard top bolts on and off the car to give you the option of a hard top coupe, or wind in the hair roadster when you please.

Inside the car has received a full retrim in bright red using a factory style pattern. The red contrasts the black outside well and makes for a cool timeless colour combo. The factory dash cluster has been fitted with updated Dakota Digital gauges to keep an eye on what’s happening under the bonnet. The carpets, seats and door trims were all recovered. For reliability the whole car has been fully rewired from front to back.

These restomod C1 Corvettes are extremely popular when we get them in and you can see why, they combine the best of classic styling with modern performance and reliability. This car has been built to a high standard, using quality parts and in a timeless fashion.
