The 1959 year model is undoubtedly the most iconic Cadillac ever produced. It was the peak of the “big fins” era and to this day remains among the biggest fins ever put on any car. The “Jetsons” style, space race inspired rocket ship styling extends the entire way through the design of the car and it was packed with more luxury features than anything the world had seen at the time.
We have known this car for some time and actually sold this car to the current owner who is a good friend and client of ours. The paintwork on the car is older but is in good condition and shines well. The body work is straight and solid throughout. The factory white paint scheme really suits period and the lines of the car and looks great offset against the bright red interior and wide white wall tyres. The sheer amount of chrome and stainless trims on these cars is a sight to behold. The most visually impressive upgrade fitted to the car is the airbag suspension set up to slam it all the way to the ground. The suspension features an Accuair Endo VT, dual Viair compressors and Accuair E-level, self-levelling air management. This allows the car to have three preset ride heights, will self-level while driving and can even be set to pop up to ride height on the turn of the key truly making it a set and forget system. The air suspension allows you to cruise around at a factory height, then slam it to the ground when you want that custom look.
The interior of the car has been refinished in a custom mix of bright red vinyl and cloth. The carpets in the car were all replaced and the front and rear seats, as well as the door trims and rear panels were all re-covered. The custom centre consoles with cup holders front and rear add a nice subtle touch. The bright red provides a fantastic offset against the exterior paintwork and gives the car a bright vibrant look inside. The dash remains the original colour to avoid any additional glare on the windscreen while driving. There are several cool factory options including the Autronic Eye, power windows and power seat. Under dash aftermarket air conditioning keeps things cool inside the cabin. The boot is neatly panelled out to match the interior with a wall to hide away the air suspension gear.
Under the bonnet is the factory 390ci V8 engine paired with the original four-speed hydra-matic automatic transmission. The driving experience is enhanced by power steering and power brakes. The car has been previously registered and mod plated for QLD with the air suspension. These cars are great cruisers and this one has some very cool mild custom touches without taking away from the incredible factory styling. Nice 1959 Cadillac coupes rarely become available on the market and are highly sought after by collectors worldwide!
