This 1956 Ford F100 has been through a full ground up, nut and bolt rebuild into a mild custom restomod cruiser. The styling of this truck is absolutely timeless, it’s the kind of car you could lock away for 20 or 30 years then pull it back out and it would still be on point. We have known this for many years now and have nick named it ‘Marilyn’ because its naturally beautiful without a heap of bolt on parts.

The gent who built the truck purchased it in 2011 because it was the most original, rust-free truck he had ever seen. After the purchase a build plan was put in place and the truck was pulled down to have the chassis built, even in pieces it proved to be an amazingly rust free vehicle, there were only two rust repairs to be done, a thin section on one floor pan and one repair in the rear guard. Almost all of the panels are original Ford items other than a brand new tray being supplied and fitted. The outside of the truck retains all of its classic styling with just the bumpers tucked front and rear and the rear chains deleted. The entire truck was then coated in a custom mix of Colonial white. All of the chrome was refinished or replaced as was the glass. The external look is completed with a set of colour matched 15” smoothie wheels with dress trims, caps and wide white wall radial tyres.

Inside the truck is just as classy and timeless as they outside but with a few hidden creature comforts. The first thing you will notice is that it’s been converted to right hand drive. The truck is fully loaded with power steering, tilt billet column, Vintage Air conditioning, remote central locking and power windows that operate from the original style cranks. The steering wheel is a reproduction 40 Ford item and Dakota Digital VHX gauges provide all the necessary info. There is a hidden stereo system in the glovebox with sub and amp under the front seat with Bluetooth capability for hands free phone calls. The original bench seat has been fully restored before being trimmed in Mercedes Benz Anthracite leather along with the door trims and full headliner. A neat feature is the cowl vent which has been converted to operate electrically from a switch under the dash. Inside of the tub was all refinished using American Oak with stainless strips. There is a neat fabricated storage box up front painted to match the truck that opens electrically from either a remote control or switch under the dash. You will notice there is no key hole on the dash in the pictures, that is because the key has been fitted with one of the original style knobs to make it seamlessly blend in with the dash, it’s these little details that makes this understated truck stand out from the rest.

The chassis has been extensively upgraded to ensure ‘Marilyn’ drives like a car rather than an old agricultural truck. The chassis rails were fully boxed for strength and a fabricated K frame welded in. An EL falcon front end conversion with coil overs was set up for the front end while the rear end was notched with a triangulated four-link with coil overs. Under the bonnet lives a 347 Windsor stroker with Edelbrock alloy heads, Thumper cam, Scorpion roller rockers, Billet MSD, serpentine front runner kit and topped with Barry Grant ‘6 shooter’ triple carbs. A new large alloy Spal radiator to keep it all running cool. The engine is paired to a built c4 automatic trans through to an XA GT finned, 28 spline, nine inch diff with 3.5:1 motive gears. There is even a hidden Hayman Reece style tow bar under the rear.  The brakes have been upgraded to power assisted with disc brakes up front and the steering has been upgraded to rack and pinion power steering.

‘Marilyn’ was built over approximately 18 months and completed in March of 2013. 1956 is the year to have in the early F100’s and RHD trucks are super desirable here in Australia. The truck has been fully mod plated for QLD and has also been registered in VIC since completion. This would have to be one of the nicest F100’s in the country, just don’t be fooled by its understated looks, it is fully loaded with anything you could ever want in one of these.
