This 1955 Chevy 210 Coupe has been through a full body off chassis rebuild. The car was purchased by the current owner back in 2014. At the time it was complete and in fair condition. It was running a three speed Muncie manual transmission back then so he pulled the car apart to fit an automatic but in the process found some rust in the floor. Not one to do things by halves, the decision was made to pull the car off the road, strip the body completely from the chassis and undertake a full rebuild.

With the body removed from the chassis, it was stripped back to bare metal to assess the required repairs. The floors and door sills were replaced with new metal. Likewise, the door and door post on drivers side received the same treatment. With all of the repairs complete, the body was treated to a full professional repaint in two tone black and red by Weavers Autobody Restorations in Beenleigh. The chrome and brightwork was refinished or replaced at the same time. To complete the external look, the car sits on a set of 15” Weld Pro Star wheels.

Inside the car needed to be just as nice as it was outside, so it was treated to a full custom retrim in Tan leather. The floors were covered in new plush Tan carpet. The factory style bench seats front and rear received the Tan leather treatment as did the custom door trims. Over head there is a colour matched Tan suede headliner. The dash remains factory but there is a smaller diameter reproduction steering wheel mounted to a tilt column. To keep an eye on what’s happening under the hood there is a pair of Autometer gauges mounted under the dash and a small tacho fixed to the steering column. To keep things comfortable in the cabin, the car has been fitted with an aftermarket air conditioning system. For tunes while cruising there is a Retrosounds Bluetooth stereo system.

Under the bonnet you will find a fully detailed engine bay that houses the built 350ci Chevy V8 engine supplied by Engine Masters in Aubury Victoria. The engine build features a Vortec block, Hydro rocker cam 224/ 230, E-Street heads and 600cfm Holley four barrel carb. The engine is paired to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission that was purchased from Eagle Auto parts in Underwood, QLD.  Power is fed to the rear wheels through the original diff which has been upgraded with a LSD centre and highway gearing.

The exhaust is custom made and features four into one headers into a custom stainless twin system with x pipe. Cooling has been upgraded with a new polished alloy radiator with electric thermo fan. The brakes are power assisted with dual master cylinder and have been upgraded to discs up front while maintaining the drums in the rear. The steering system has been upgraded to a power steering box.

These early Tri-five Chevys are iconic American classics and always popular when we get them here in the shop. This one has been through a body off chassis rebuild with a bunch of awesome upgrades throughout. The car is mod plated for QLD and comes with a receipt showing the specs of the engine build.
