1953 Chevy 3100 pick up

HIGHLIGHTS: – Custom paint and interior – 350ci V8 engine – Turbo 350 automatic transmission – Mustang II front suspension – Rack and pinion power steering – Disc brake front end – 10 bolt diff – 18/20″ US Mag wheels

This 1953 Chevy 3100 pick up has been through an extensive rebuild with a bunch of tasteful modifications and upgrades. Starting with the chassis, the old, outdated, leaf sprung front axle has been replaced with a Mustang II independent front clip. The steering system has been converted over to rack and pinion with power assistance.  The brakes have been upgraded to be power boosted with discs up front. Under the bonnet now lives a Vortec 350ci Chevy V8 engine features an Edelbrock carb with aftermarket intake and air cleaner as well as a set of polished rocker covers. Some aftermarket headers flow into a custom exhaust to give the truck a nice rumble. The engine is paired with a Turbo 350, three speed automatic transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels via a Chevy 10 bolt rear end. The fuel tank has been relocated from the factory location inside the car and there is now a fuel cell mounted up under the tub.

The outside of the truck has been professionally repainted in Metallic purple which contrasts well against the chrome bumpers and grille. The body has been kept reasonably factory with the tub having the rack holes deleted and bed side open ends filled and closed. The fuel filler has been removed from the cab and neatly placed in the rear guard. The chrome on the outside was all refinished during the resto and the truck looks great slammed over a set of US Mag wheels measuring 18” up front and 20” in the rear.

The inside of the truck has been neatly retrimmed in black vinyl. A bench seat remains up front with custom trim and the headliner and half door cards trimmed to match. There is a tilt column that houses the automatic shifter and holds an aftermarket steering wheel. The dash is painted to match the outside with Autometer gauges mounted in a neat billet cluster. The truck has been mod plated and previously registered in QLD. These first series Chevy trucks are always popular and this one has some great upgrades to make for a fun street truck.
