This 1941 Willys 3 window coupe is a ground up built custom street rod. The rod was built by the current owner over a number of years and completed in 2007.

Starting with the body, the Willys 3 window coupe fiberglass reproduction body was purchased from a gent in NSW. A 41 Willys coupe is a pretty awesome looking car in standard form but this once received some subtle modifications. Firstly, the bonnet and guards were combined and braced to make a reverse tilt front end. The door handles have been shaved as has the boot lock. On the rear, a set of 50 Pontiac tail lights were used. The entire body has been coated in BA Falcon Citric Acid green inside and out. The car sits slammed down low on ET Gasser wheels measuring 15×5” up front and meaty Centerline Convo Pros measuring 15×10” in the rear.

Inside the car has been treated to a full custom interior in black leather by Bayside Trimming. Entry is made easy by suicide opening doors. Once inside there are bucket seats with custom trimmed door panels. The dash features a TPI-Tech gauge cluster with additional gauges including a Monster Tacho and Autometer Water temp and blower gauges. There is Lokar shifter for the auto on the floor and a new banjo style steering wheel front and centre. There is a Kenwood CD player with two speakers for some tunes while cruising. For convenience the car is fitted with power windows.

Under the bonnet lives a 351ci Windsor V8 engine that has been fully built and fitted with a GM 6/71 blower and topped with dual Holley carbs. Spark is provided by an MSD blaster HVC coil into an MSD distributer and controlled by a 6-AL box. The cooling system has been upgraded to include a new aluminium radiator with thermos fan and electric water pump. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of aftermarket headers into a custom side exit exhaust. The engine is paired to a C4 automatic transmission that was fully rebuilt by Gear torque automatics and fitted with an extra clutch plate and small torque converter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a Jaguar S type diff. The chassis is a full custom build and features a transverse mono leaf I beam front end with an independent Jag rear end. The brakes have been upgraded to Falcon discs up front with Jag inboard discs on the rear.

Since completion in 2007 the car has done a bunch of local club runs as well as going down to Brunswick rod run twice and Yamba on four occasions. The car has been fitted with a QLD mod plate for LH9 limited hot rod registration.
