SEMA 2025 – Chasing Trends, Finding Inspiration & Catching Up With The Rest Of The World.
This November, Rachael and I packed our bags, jumped on a long-haul flight, and made our pilgrimage back to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. It’s a trip I look forward to most years and a conference I’ve been attending for the last 15 years, not just because it’s the biggest automotive aftermarket event on the planet, but because it’s where the future of our industry is put on display. For us, it’s an essential part of staying ahead of the curve, keeping our finger on the pulse of emerging trends, and making sure SEVEN82MOTORS continues to bring the best ideas, inspiration, and energy home to Australia.
The moment you step into SEMA, you’re overwhelmed with high level builds, technology and displays. Every hall is stacked with cutting-edge concepts and new products that remind you why we all fell in love with cars in the first place. But the world keeps changing and we are all hot rodders of some sort… taking old cars and rebuilding them to be better than they left the factory whether its restomod builds pushing boundaries, to classic styling returning in clever new ways, to fabrication ideas that make you rethink what’s possible—SEMA is the place where tomorrow’s trends show up today.
Rach and I spent the week walking hundred kilometres of halls, talking with builders, fabricators, designers, and suppliers from all corners of the industry. It’s a huge part of why we make this trip every year as you can’t stay fresh unless you surround yourself with people who are pushing it to the limit—and SEMA is full of them.
Beyond the cars, the tech, and the tools, one of the biggest reasons we go is the people. SEMA isn’t just an event—it’s a global meeting point. Every year, our friends from all over the world converge in Vegas, and it becomes this massive reunion of car tragics, business partners, past customers, future collaborators, and lifelong mates. Whether it’s catching up with someone we haven’t seen since last year, grabbing a beer with builders we only ever get to watch through socials, or talking shop with suppliers we trust, the relationships we build and maintain here are a huge part of what keeps this industry thriving.
Vegas has an energy like nowhere else, and when you mix that with a heap of bad arse car guys and girls, it gets my brain back in dream mode and wanting to create more for the Aussie car culture and industrie. Both Rach and I came home feeling recharged, inspired, and ready to roll into a massive end to the year—especially with our December auction set up to be an absolute banger!
SEMA 2025 did exactly what it always does: reminded us why we love this industry, why innovation matters, and why staying connected keeps us progressive. It’s a long way to travel for a short amount of time, but for us, it’s all part of the job and a privilege.
