1972 Holden HQ Coupe big block show car.
Built approx 5 years ago by a well-known and respected HQ collector/enthusiast. The car started life and a V8 LS Coupe and was chosen for its very good body. It was rust free and still had its original floors and was the prefect starting point to invest in to build a show quality car. The engine bay was detailed and smoothed in preparation for a 455 Big Block… that big block got treated to a rebuild and is now a 468 with Edelbrock oval port heads, JE Pistons, 41 40 crank and was built to be a streetable car, it jumped on the dyno and made an effortless 512hp at the fly wheel and the engine is bolted up to a T400 auto trans with a 3000 stally and B&M shifter, the diff is a true track 9inch. The body work on this car is show standard and finished in Hugger Orange, the bonnet has been de-seamed underneath, billet hinges with upgraded struts and the engine has a serpentine front runner kit to dress up the power steering and air conditioning pumps, custom polished alloy radiator and all accessories are finished in either chrome or billet to create that dramatic engine bay when the bonnet is up and on show… outside holds its own with a pretty understated finish, it’s not had a thousand things thrown at it to make it cool, it’s just been finished to a very high level, all the chrome and stainless is beautiful with excellent body gaps and really clean and sharp rainbows, it’s laid out so the stance it rite and sits on a nice set of Billet Intro wheels. Look through the perfect glass or open up a door and the trim quality is as nice as the rest of the build and done by Annvid Upholstery in leather and suede with custom carpets, billet Dakota Dash and billet dash facia, custom steering with custom billet GTS horn button. The trim is excellent and compliments the rest of the build and the boot has been fitted out to match and hides the twin batteries and bulk of the $6000 stereo system that is controlled but a small panel mounted in the console… Underneath and all the floors have been painted body colour, the frame was build apart from the car showing it’s a true body off restoration and been powder coated silver and everything was replaced or restored at the time of the build. It’s also had an alloy Retro steering rack upgrade that has been polished and all custom stainless bracketry made and shows it’s custom made ceramic coated X pipe mandrel bent exhaust system. So if you’re looking for show and go this is an amazing car and presents as a really rare opportunity. It’s only travelled 3500k’s since it’s been built and not been to many shows with the exception of getting top 10 at the Brisbane Hot Rod convention in 2017.
