This 1970 Plymouth Road Runner is an extremely rare and desirable American muscle car. The car was extremely well optioned form the factory and has been through a full restoration. The car was delivered new in Los Angeles, California and is a genuine RM23 Road Runner in factory In-Violet (Plum Crazy) with a 383ci V8, 4 speed manual transmission, white bucket seats, power brakes, dual exhaust, 8 track and Air grabber hood! That’s a pretty awesome factory specification in anyone’s books.

The body of the car was in reasonably good condition being a Californian car but it still went back to bare metal and received any necessary repairs. This included fresh floors and quarters which were completed to a high standard. Once the repairs were made the whole body was recoated in its factory high impact colour of In-Violet (Called Plum Crazy in Dodge range) which is one of the most iconic and popular Mopar colours ever. The trim and other shiny bits were all either refurbished or replaced. There is a correct white tape stripe out back as well as the ‘Road Runner’ Cartoon birds on the rear and both front fenders. The air grabber hood also wears the iconic ‘Organisol’ black outs with the remote opening ‘Air Grabber’ hood.

Open the door and you will find a fully restored interior back to factory specs. The white bucket seats have been retrimmed with new covers from Legendary along with the rear bench seat, headliner, sail panels and window sweeps. The carpets are also new and the gauges were all rebuilt, including the Tic-Toc-Tach. The interesting and unusual AM/8-track stereo radio was rebuilt, along with freshly rebuilt OEM speakers from Classic Car Radio Service. The Hurst shifter was re-chromed and a new pistol grip handle was installed. The console plates feature new wood grained decals as original.

Rumbling under the hood is the factory-original 383 cubic inch “Coyote Duster” V8. The first thing you’ll notice is the unusual air cleaner, which we are told is correct for a 4-barrel car with the Air Grabber hood. The engine has been rebuilt by RPM Machine in California. The engine bay is well detailed with the block painted in Hemi Orange, along with the correct hoses, clamps, authentic clips, fasteners, and other details. The original restored 26-inch radiator keeps it cool. Both the power brake and power steering systems have been rebuilt during the restoration. New decals were used where appropriate, and of course, a “beep-beep” horn on the radiator cradle. And before you ask, yes, the Air Grabber system is fully functional.

Underneath the car, you’ll find a correct 4-speed manual transmission driving a corporate 8.75-inch rear packing as-specified 3.91 gears for blistering acceleration. The floors have been finished like the rest of the body in In-Violet. Everything is super-sanitary, including the new exhaust system with correct chrome tips, correctly rebuilt suspension and brakes, and the fresh gas tank out back. Wheels are 15-inch Rallyes with red striped tyres that stuff the wheel wells perfectly.

Rarely do such desirable American Mopar muscle cars become available on the market and we expect this car will attract a lot of attention.
